CLIF BAR

It’s important to understand the impacts that your eating choices have on the environment and to purchase from companies that strive to make a positive impact in our world. Clif Bar is a brand that is actively working to preserve the planet – and not just for good PR. Clif Bar believes that ensuring the sustainability of our planet is an essential role for any business, and is necessary for human survival.

Clif Bar continues to reduce its ecological footprint throughout the entire product lifecycle, from the field to the final product. Check out some major milestones of the company’s sustainability journey:

2020:

  • Clif Bar pledged that all packaging will be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025

2019:

  • Clif Bar installed an onsite solar power system at its bakery in Idaho. This solar farm provides 30% of the baker’s power annually and also includes five acres of native flowering plants that provide a habitat for bees, butterflies, and birds

2018:

  • Clif Bar reached a milestone on its organic journey, sourcing one billion pounds of organic ingredients sourced since 2003. That means ingredients grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers and toxic pesticides

2014:

  • The White House recognized Clif Bar for demonstrating leadership in renewable energy through its 50/50 target by 2020, which supports the transition of its supply chain partners to green power.

2008:

  • Clif Bar & Company launched the COOL HOME PROGRAM, providing employees with up to $1000 annually to make eco-improvements to their homes.

2003:

  • Clif Bar partnered with American Forests to launch a program to plant trees and offset employee commutes. To date, the company has planted over 150,000 trees in areas damaged by wildfires and areas contributing to watershed restoration.

2001:

  • Clif Bar hired a full-time ecologist and developed an in-house Sustainability Program.
