Careers in Sustainability Dinner Recap

On January 22, Sustainability in Business Laurier hosted the Careers in Sustainability Dinner at Veritas Cafe. Around 25 students joined, mixing upper- and lower-year students in business formal. The evening combined structured discussion with open networking, giving students direct access to professionals working in sustainability roles.

The night started with check-in and casual mingling, then moved into a dinner-style panel discussion. Students stayed at their tables, allowing for deeper conversations with professionals about career paths, co-op experiences, and lessons learned from early roles.

Highlights from the evening:

• Professionals shared advice on choosing majors, specializations, and co-op opportunities

• Insights into careers in ESG, climate policy, and purpose-driven roles

• Honest answers to students’ questions about university decisions and career planning

• Opportunities to exchange LinkedIn contacts and connect with peers

Representatives from KPMG, RBC, Sun Life, and JLL brought real-world perspectives to the discussion, showing students how sustainability work appears across industries and what skills make a difference in these roles.

After dinner, the open networking period allowed students to continue conversations with professionals and each other. The room maintained a calm but energetic vibe, encouraging meaningful dialogue without rushing.

The Careers in Sustainability Dinner gave students concrete insight into sustainability careers, practical guidance for university and early career planning, and connections that can support future opportunities.
